DIY Bathroom Shelves
One of my favorite (and easiest) DIY projects we've done are the shelves in our guest bathroom! When we first moved into this house, I honestly didn't have much of a plan for the bathroom. If you notice, the bathroom has absolutely NO storage. So, I knew we needed something. I had this cute little green cabinet in our last home and didn't have a place for it, so I thought it made a perfect little addition to this bathroom (plus I didn't have to buy anything!). I actually already had the piece of old barn wood as well, so that's when I decided to make shelves! These shelves cost around $35 total to make. Links for everything can be found here.
Here's the simplest DIY for making these shelves:
Collect your supplies- piece of wood, brackets, screws, drill, saw (you can use any wood or brackets you want; I got this piece of barn wood from an antique store and the brackets from Hobby Lobby)
Measure your wall for the length you want the shelves (luckily for us, all we had to do was cut the wood in half here and it worked)
Cut the wood
Screw brackets into wood
Screw brackets into wall
Decorate and admire!
When decorating the shelves, I knew I needed functionality because there's little storage in this bathroom. So, easily accessible towels and hand towels were a must. Then I added some little glass jars with cotton balls and q-tips. Lastly, a little bit of greenery to finish the space. Overall, I ended up loving how this little space turned out.
Another little tip for an easy upgrade of your bathroom-- changing out your mirrors! I love the wood mirror in this space! Sadly, this mirror is old from World Market and is no longer available. The hand towels and basket were purchased from TJ Maxx. Note that if you purchase the items from Hobby Lobby, wait and purchase on the weeks they're 50% off.
